Longest you’ve ever stayed awake?

sleeping

So I was having coffee with a friend and we were talking about polyphasic sleep. I’ve decided that if I didn’t want to have a real life I’d give it a try.

So my question: What was your longest day and how long (approximately) were you awake? Tell your war story!

  1. i stay 3 days straight w/o any naps every week(im a model so we don’t have a fixed work sched). It’s good to spend sleepless days w/ some friends. Me and my friends mostly models, we party all night and watch movies during the day… just having fun, enjoying life to the fullest… sleeping is boring… –we don’t take drugs… drugs + no sleep = zombie looking mofo!lol

  3. I want to got to sleep so bad, but can’t! I’m at 45 or so right now. If I don’t catch an hour or so right now, I have to get up and do laundry and pack for a business trip in Nashville. That’ll stretch it to about 60. Wish me luck! Scratch that, on second thought. Pray for me!

  4. The longest i ever stayed up was 4 days because i took 9 hits of LSD. It really freaked me out because I thought i forgot how to sleep and that it was never gonna end. It really seemed like a month because time was moving really really slow. Its wierd because ive taken 5 and even 7 hits before and never got this kind of reaction. I thought i was gonna end up in a padded room with a strait jacket for the rest of my life. But when I started to come down from it I felt relieved. I felt like a newborn. Looking back at the experince I dont regret it. Every time you take acid it kinda changes your thought pattern to the better I think in my situation. But the side effects are different for everybody.

I use to do this a lot when I was younger and gave myself a serious case of insomnia – to which I still have to this day. The result? I had barely ten hours sleep in the course of an entire week. The recommended is 56 hours for that period of time… so yeah, that was interesting.

  17. hey, started looking on the internet for the record of being awake without sleep. Ran into this site. I am at 84 hours at the moment. I was so angry at myself that i woke up at 18 pm whensday evening that I decided to not go to sleep as log as possible. Only had 1 difficult time at the moment of feeling tired. Was on Friday around 14 pm. Don’t know if it is possible to beat the 11 day strike, but I will try to get to sundayevening 12pm . Wil be 102 hours without no sleep. hope to get there.

  18. Well everyone, I plan on embarking upon my sleep deprivation quest sometime soon. I’m intrigued as to the effects of it after hearing that shamans from Polynesian tribes use fasting and sleep deprivation as a way to ignore and resist pain. I’m gonna try it without caffeine stimulants for the first 2 days at least.

Just a note to everyone out there, if you do plan on using caffeine or energy drinks to stimulate your sleep deprivation, do so with caution. Caffeinated beverages actually dehydrate you and enough dehydration could cause the caffeine to crystallize inside of you and kill you. Also caffeine addiction leads to withdrawal which will make you sleepy 😀

  19. I’m on 31 hours right now…with no caffiene/stimulants or anything. I just have horrible insomnia.

  20. Mine is pathetic compared to some here. Around 32-36 hours for me. I was on a trip with friends, it was our lastnight there, so we chugged some energy drinks and pulled an all-nighter. We regetted it on the plane in the morning, and have some funny pictures to show for it…never been so tired in my life!

  21. The longest I’ve gone is 55 hours. I had the house to myself for a few days, so decided to stay awake as an experiment. It was pretty boring and difficult not to drift off, but I stayed fully conscious throughout. After about fifty hours I watched Doctor Who and Daleks were flying out of the TV screen, which amused me, and I was convinced that there were people following me around my house.
