Fitch Worldwide Based in Scottsdale, this 650 person firm does branding and other design work. They have a good set of clients (Starbucks, Paradise Bakery/Cafe, and some hotels). Also check out their localized sites at aad-fitch.com.

Here is a great bunch of screenshots and analysis of a certain “Web 2.0” style, where sites are designed with horizontal groups of content. Contains a two dozen or so example screenshots.

Have you seen the new Amazon.com site navigation system? What do you think about it? Personally, I think it’s ugly. It’s less intuitive and harder to find stuff on the site. What’s up with the huge blue bar anyways? The Amazon logo is now part of a tab where before it was on its own….

Wabi-Sabi: for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers A little book about the Japanese philosophy of finding true beauty in an object or design through it’s imperfections. Seems like the antithesis to the way most of us design (lots of straight lines and pixel perfection), but I think the philosophy holds some real value for designers….
