Travel: Slow or fast?

When you travel for a vacation do you like the fast paced adventure of seeing as much as you can in the time you have or do you like to stay in one place for a while and see what it’s like to live there?

Reading this post about the Joy of Slow Travel reminded me that I haven’t posted much about my Brasil trip. That’s because I’m still overwhelmed by my massive collection of photos. On the Brasil trip half of the time was spent at a resort doing almost nothing, and the other half touring various sights. I found a nice mixture was perfect.

Why do we wear socks?

I’ve always thought that socks were a funny thing. They’ve always seemed pointless to me except for in a fashion way. I read the page about socks on the Wikipedia and all I can guess is that socks are useful for absorbing sweat. Can anybody tell me the history of socks?

Earthquake!

I went to Norway for a vacation 6 years ago and we were sitting down to a nice dinner with our long lost relatives (literally in Tønjum, Norway) and we experienced an earthquake. It was the first one I’ve ever been in and I think it registered somewhere on the 4 scale. So not too big.

My question: You’re in an earthquake. What’s the first thing that goes through your mind “ooooh, this is cool” or “ahahghhghg, run to safety!” or “how boring.” Have you ever been in an earthquake?
