This government web site for the US Peace Corps is an excellent example of consolidating large amounts of information into sizable chunks that can be digested easily. They are using a relatively simple design that uses color and just enough interaction to make it fun. The pull down menus are done quite nicely. Does anybody know who developed this site?

Yesterday Air France had an airplane crash (in which nobody died so that’s good) and since they’re in the news let’s rip apart their web site just for fun. Good? Bad? Effecient use of space or crammed like your legs in coach? I like the logo.

ALA article by Sergio Villarreal details how to create drop shadows that expand to fit block-level elements. Haven’t tried it yet, but this looks like a valid trick for the CSS designer’s arsenal.
