IA: Page Description Diagrams


I just happened to be working with some wireframes tonight while reading this article. It’s a nice idea.

I’m going to assume you just read the article. I don’t think the idea is anything new. We’ve done the same thing in the past with several clients. He’s saying that a wireframe, while great, does go into design to some extent. It discusses general layout. Sometimes you don’t want the client thinking about those things.

My standpoint is that you should have come up with the content lists and prioritized the areas of content in collaborative meetings first, and then taken that information and built wireframes. You shouldn’t just start drawing wireframes out of the blue. Somehow you have to get to the point where you know what content will appear on the page and that should be documented in some way or another.
