Yahoo! Upgrades Homepage

Some Yahoo! users are seeing a redesigned homepage. What do you think? It’s definately a step in the right direction from an organizational perspective and I like the fact that Yahoo! is willing to throw conventional design out the window to try something new. I’m not sure whether I like having the search bar all the way on the right side. To me, it puts search second.

  • I think I remember reading an article recently where Yahoo basically bowed out of the search arena, admitting that Google is king.

It looks like they’re attempting to shift their focus more towards their wide array of services (mail, music, etc…)

  • I think Yahoo! is much more powerful in the portal arena. I still use Yahoo! for auto, music, finances.. but Google is much more powerful in the search arena.

Overall, though, I think I may like the fact that I don’t have to scroll as much! :)

  • I don’t know if I like it…seems almost too personalized if that’s possible.

  • I think Thame is onto something. What I don’t like about the new design is that the background and borders and gradients take precidence over the actual content.
