I just wanted to post a note about VLC Media Player. It’s a really nice, open source, free video player for any OS. It plays DVDs and just about any other media format. If you are trying to play a movie (especially a DVD), give it a try.

…It is also one of the few media players that provide playback of Microsoft proprietary formats (.avi, wma, etc) on the mac…if that interests you
