The Footnote

Posted by Chris Tingom on January 16, 2007 at 8:00 am.

I discovered Footnote after reading a review over at Solution Watch. Basically, imagine a cross between Flickr (the ability to draw a comment on a photo) and the Wikipedia for historical documents. And millions of them. It’s a wonderful idea, and definately would be an awesome resource for schools and colleges.

The design is also beautiful, and the kind that doesn’t get in the way of what you are looking for.

  • I wonder what search technology they used to power the site? Love that browse screen, well done.

  • I also saw that they allow you to create a member page where you can share your own research and allow other users to review your work and collaborate with you. This could be a nice way for researchers and writers to really nail the topic they are working on. I guess the community will dictate how effective this could be; very nice idea regardless.
