Sprite based web design?

Now this is interesting! Shacknews figured out how to use CSS to “skin” their web pages with just a single image file.

  • Alistapart had an article using this technology for rollovers; basically you just reference the same big image only cropping via x and y coordinates to show different parts of it.

  • Hmm.. wouldn’t it be ironic if Coca Cola used Sprite based web design for their web site? (Ba dum dum cha! *rimshot* Ok. I won’t quit my day job. *ducks the rotten tomatos*)
