No such thing in .au really, save for a few very rare cases. All I get is my leave loading which I'm entitled to (most employers simply pay you more when you're on leave). And of course half of it will be taxed anyway, so I'll get like $75. Yay!

It doesn't bother me if I get a bonus or not. With my old company, we got $10o in cash. In the 4th year I was there, we had new owners, they decided to tax the bonus, then in year 5, no bonus, but we played dirty Santa for $50 gift cards for crappy places. One guy got for sams club and was told he had to pay the fee to join to use it. I would have rather gotten a subscription to the Jelly of the Month Club, that way I would have been reminded monthly of how bad my job really was. Luckily I escaped.

Merry Christmas

No bonuses, since I work for a college (non-profit educational institutions don't tend to believe in bonuses), but I get a full week of paid holiday at Christmas in addition to the five weeks of paid vacation I get every year, so it's not so bad. I can use the week off to work on outside projects that will pay additional money, so it's kinda like a bonus.

I've been getting one now for about 5 years at my current job. The only problem is there is no structure as to when you get it, how much you get, etc. I can't really complain since it's the money I'll use to buy stuff over the holidays and it definitely comes in handy.

The last company I worked for had this as their bonus structure:

$25 x however many years you've worked there.

So a 120,000 executive with 3 years at the company would get... $75. And since receiving your bonus check meant going down to the corporate office and talking to a bunch of surly, jaded accounting women, I never even bothered to get mine.

We dont do bonuses, cashflows tight enough as it is... i remember when i was employed that bonuses were a great cure for the xmas overspend helping us to survive throughout january mainly due to your getting paid a week early for christmas... january is always a killer on the budget!

I don't think I'll be getting a bonus. Not sure as this will be the first "real" job i've had = not working seasonal at temp jobs / freelance.

but i guess i'll wait and see before blowing a bunch of money that i don't expect to come in.
