Andy Ferra told me about ViewAt.org this morning and I just had to share it. It’s a site where you can click on a map to see panoramic views from that location. Pretty cool.

Similarily, check out this interesting AZ ChopperCam site, with some interesting photos taken from a helicopter in Arizona.

We’ve been working with a furniture design company for a few years now and recently they began running magazine ads in some design publications. Here is one of the ones we ran recently. It’s mostly photo but I thought it came out great.

Web 2.0 Expo Photo Wrapup

As most of you know, I spent most of last week in San Francisco for the Web 2.0 Expo. It was a lot of fun, and enjoyable to meet a lot of the Viddler team for the first time. While in SF, we launched Viddler 2.0. My part was primarily in telling people about the product while I was there, and designing some cool cards and handouts.

Web 2.0 Expo Adventures

I’ve been in San Francisco since Saturday and have been working with the Viddler team on the launch of version 2.0 of the site. It just launched last night at 2 o’clock in the morning. We’re at the Web 2.0 Expo to announce the new stuff on the site, meet with people, and generally have a good time.

While I’m here, I’m also planning to tell a few people about our upcoming product (we got business cards for it, finally, which I’ll show at some undisclosed date here on BrainFuel). I’m going to try to visit a few coffee shops. Taking a lot of photos and video, and enjoying the California weather.

Tom forwarded a link to me: Interview with Hamad Darwish, the photographer that took all of the photos for the Windows Vista Desktops. Apparently he took 6,000 photos in 2 weeks and Microsoft only used 5 of them. Amazing.

The Man Who Photographed Snowflakes

Wilson A. “Snowflake” Bentley (1865–1931), born in Jericho, Vermont, USA, is the first known photographer of snowflakes. He perfected a process of catching flakes on black velvet in such a way that their images could be captured before they either melted or evaporated.

He photographed more than 5,000 “crystals” in his lifetime. His process was to capture them on a blackboard, and then shuffle them onto black velvet. You can see more of his collection here.

My friend Gary sent me this link with some amazing photos of a Giugiaro Mustang. You must see these. Check out how they used cowhide for the fabric. It’s even used on the floor boards. Amazing stuff.

In other news, 37signals pointed us to Cartype, a sweet site that has logos for car companies. The page of Fiat logos is an excellent example of the depth this site goes into.

Datacenter Tour

We toured Limelight Networks data center the other day. It was a lot of fun, and we saw some cool stuff. Here are a few photos from the trip.
