Carpet glue
Somebody should invent a carpet glue that doesn’t smell so bad. You could make a fortune with a product like that.

how long does the smell of new carpet glue last? My carpet 9is four months old and still smells!!
In closet and enclosed areas it can take a long time. you cna generally get the smell out buy having your carpets cleaned. Becuase they should not be in that bad of shape it should not cost you much. Antoehr way is to us a cleaning poder and then vacuum the powder up. Personally I would just have them cleaned and forget about it.
