Wordpress 2.0

I wanted to comment that WordPress 2.0 is finally out (came out on December 26 actually) and they’ve posted some comments up on the official WordPress blog.

I have a few thoughts about the introduction of a WYSIWYG editor for WordPress. Firstly, I think it’s great because this brings WordPress more in line with what business users and non-technical bloggers might want. Finally someone can make something bold without having to know any HTML tags. They made a really smart move in that they created an easy way to disable the editor so you can hand code everything. Absolutely cool.

I’ve used this editor on my Superman blog at WordPress.com (a hosted service that you don’t have to upgrade). The cool thing I’ve noticed is that the editor allows for easy insertion of the “More” link in posts. This is something that was often overlooked in WYSIWYG Plugins for WP 1.5. WYSIWYG Plugins have actually been somewhat of hacks if you want my opinion.

As to what I think of the new interface. It’s definately improved. Steve Smith at Ordered List has already gone and updated his Tiger Admin Theme for WP 2.0.

Oh! One more thing: Built in support from the get-go for Akismet spam filtering. That’s awesome!

I’m planning to upgrade Arizona Coffee soon with the latest version of WP and we’ve been talking about upgrading BrainFuel sometime in early 2006.

My picture with Santa and my interesting Christmas

2 Comments By Chris Tingom on

Hi folks. This is wishing you and yours a great week after Christmas. I hope your Christmas day was as great as mine. I’m posting a couple of photos. Some of the interesting things I did on Christmas day:

  1. Peeled 20 potatoes and stuffed a turkey
  2. Played ping pong with a guy who didn’t object when I expressely asked him if he was a professional
  3. Won a lot of games of ping pong
  4. Went to church and ate a candy cane
  5. Talked with someone who couldn’t stop raving about the quality of celery in Phoenix – “We just can’t stop eating it!”
  6. Played foosball and realized I’m great offense and terrible at defense
  7. I washed my car and used one of those California water blades to wipe all of the water off saving about 10 minutes in dry time
  8. Spilled cranberry sauce on a white table cloth and was able to get it all out using OxiClean
  9. Realized the nickname Superman is really sticking and I’m ok with that even if I don’t always feel like Superman but will do my best to live up to the moniker
  10. Received a new book for Christmas which BrainFuel readers will be happy about: It’s called On Writing Well
  11. Tasted some of the Cave Creek Coffee Company coffee (thanks!) and decided I really like their coffee (the bagged coffee for home preparation)
  12. Ate far too much food
  13. Played poker with 5 friends and came in 3rd
  14. Watched old home movies from 1987 with friends and had a lot of fun watching the clips including seeing myself in them
  15. Took a lot of photos (17,000 in two years on this camera!)
  16. Decided I want to get another dog
  17. Realized far too late all of the funny things I could have said to Santa (see photo below): “Travel much?” and “Shouldn’t you be working?” or “Hi I’m Superman, and I don’t need a sled to fly”

Bubbleshare

Mark at Squint posted a mini review of Bubbleshare and I just had to tell you about it. My initial reaction on trying the software? I am blown away! It is so easy to create an account and start using this site. Check out this one photo I uploaded. It’s really the uber example of the blank slate. They get me going with the upload process as soon as I get to the page. It’s a bottom up experience right away. So go check out Bubbleshare right now.

White Lamborghini

Let’s just say for a minute that I took you shopping to buy a Lamborghini today, what color would you get? I saw a white Lamborghini the other day. A Lamborghini should be black, red, yellow, or some other bright color that exudes strength.

I played 7 to 8 games of ping pong yesterday with friends, however my slams were nothing like the ones in this cool video clip.

Images AZ Interview with Chris Tingom about Coffee

1 Comment By Chris Tingom on December 24, 2005

I was interviewed recently by Stephanie Palenque who is a writer for Images AZ Magazine here in Phoenix. I mention it because she interviewed me about coffee in Phoenix and I know a number of the BrainFuel readers are from Phoenix. So please check out the short interview at the Images AZ site under the subhead of coffee resources.

Most of the interview resides around me saying where the best places to get coffee are at. Of course I had to say that the Spanish Latte at La Grande Orange is my favorite (still is).

Thanks Stephanie!
