Pen Art – Phoenix Illustrator

Post a Comment By Chris Tingom on March 31, 2004

I posted a link to Ken Jacobsen’s site, PenArt.com, several months ago (just before our site crashed and we lost a few posts). I’m posting it again because I felt like Ken had such talent and a great online portfolio.

MacThemes Contest

Post a Comment By Ben Wood on

The MacThemes site has just redesigned in a “USA politics” type style to support a contest… Well done although there are some bugs in IE 6. Check out the contest entries – the mockups range from beautiful to vomit-inducing. I’m a big fan of theming your OS and I highly prefer alternative themes for OS X over aqua – it’s just too bright and shiny. Of the contest entries, I like “Calabi” the best… it’s kind of like a shiny space pod from the future.

wordPhoto.org

My new favorite web site is wordPhoto.org. If you’re familiar with PhotoFriday you’ll immediately see why wordPhoto is better – you can see all of the photos on a single page. Plus, instead of being weekly, it’s every single day!!

GIMP 2.0

Post a Comment By Chris Tingom on

I’ve only tried GIMP once or twice in the last several years and it is only because I own and use Photoshop which is more of an industry standard. However, my friend commented to me that the new GIMP 2.0 was released and he says it’s pretty good so if you need a good image editing application give it a whirl.

AT&T CallVantage

Post a Comment By Chris Tingom on March 29, 2004

AT&T is introducing a new service called CallVantage which basically is a phone that attaches to your home high-speed internet and allows you to make phone calls.

For discussion: is this the future? Will phones be like this in the coming decades? Would you sign up?

Expedia, Travelocity, or Orbitz????

This is Sippey blog has an interesting post about the web travel booking sites. I found the wireframes he made especially interesting in that they split the page into three groups:

  • Marketing
  • Flight picker
  • Navigation
  • Cool. Also a great idea for how to research and show competative analysis to a client.

    Travelocity site design

Post a Comment By Chris Tingom on March 27, 2004

Travelocity.com has a new fresh look – both the site, and the logo. Honestly, I can barely remember what the old site looked like so I can only comment on the new design. Apparently, the stars in their logo represent “natural navigation techniques.” Interesting. I like it and at the same time wonder what was wrong with the old one? Speak Up had a short discussion on the old logo vs. new.
