Krispy Kreme

The Krispy Kreme web site is just so perfect for what it is, a site about great donuts. I think they’ve done a great job with the branding… pulling the flavor into the site. On a side note, what do people think about the logo? Personally I think its retro and carries a lot of character itself.

Also, a big happy birthday to Kent on Tuesday!!! :-)

Here’s a great law-firm web site for Snell & Wilmer I love the bright contrast in the photos used throughout the web site, excellent use of type, and some easy navigation.

Coolness is a real word

There is a new article over at DesignInteract/CommArts about getting high profile jobs with the Smithsonian. I’m writing this post and I haven’t even finished reading the article it’s that good (I will).

The article is here. You’ve got to check out West Point in the Making of America. Also the Postal Museum.

To finish off a most excellent post I have two interesting facts for you: First of all, did you notice that airport runways always have number painted on each end? Well, maybe you didn’t know this: that number if you add a zero onto the end is the compass reading for that runway… and on the other end of the runway is the reverse compass reading. Isn’t that neat!! Coolness. And that brings me to my second interesting fact. The word “coolness” is actually in the dictionary. Now that’s cool! :-)

dnL vs 7up

Does anybody care to elaborate on this? Apparently it’s a new version of 7up spelled upside down (look at it) and it’s got a fruity punch to it. However, the site says it’s different entirely and to be release January 2003, and that’s like months ago!!! Has anyone tried it and is this some sort of joke? They were discussing it over at Speak-Up and I thought the site was worth posting so there you go.

The colors and imagery on this new web site for Julia Child blend to create an awesome site that lets you explore. So go visit the site, and be sure to check out this article over at DesignInteract/CommArts about the site.

Just lovely, tiltingly cool

The New Tilt web site is pretty cool, in fact, it is very cool. I love how it has so much “open” white space which makes everything feel so easy to read and see.

I especially liked the broad use of colors and imagery to communicate with this site for Imaginary Forces. This is one of those “funky” sites with lots of shapes and odd things going on, but the difference is that I don’t feel like the message is lost. I can still read the copy when I go to the company page. Nice job.
